The Liberty Bell

Dublin Core

Title

The Liberty Bell

Subject

Cotton States Exposition

Description

View of children surrounding the Liberty Bell at the Cotton States and International Exposition. The bell had traveled by train from Philadelphia to be displayed in Piedmont Park. It's arrival in Atlanta drew the fair's first big crowd of visitors to site. The Liberty Bell served as both a patriotic attraction and a symbol of renewed good feeling between the North and South in the post-Civil War and Reconstruction era.
